Iranian-backed Militias Fatally Stab Kurdish Journalist in Kirkuk

Iranian-backed Militias Fatally Stab Kurdish Journalist in Kirkuk.

The Iranian-controlled Shi’ite militias of Hashd al-Shaabi murdered last night a Kurdish photojournalist in Daquq district, southern Kirkuk Province after they invaded the province on October 16.
Hashd al-Shaabi militias attacked last night the house of the cameraman Arkan Sharif in Hafta Ghaz village in Daquq district and stabbed him. The cameraman was working for the Erbil-based Kurdish channel Kurdistan TV.
The TV station’s general director Karwan Akrayi, told BasNews that a number of Hashd al-Shaabi militias attacked the cameraman at 3am on Monday and stabbed him fifty times in front of his wife.
He noted that the attackers had introduced themselves as Hashd al-Shaabi members.
The Iranian-backed Shi’ite militias, heavily equipped with US-provided weapons, launched on October 16 a large-scale military assault on Kurdistan Region’s disputed areas. The offensive led to a humanitarian crisis, displacement of over 160,000 people and destruction of hundreds of civilian houses.
The Kurdish journalist was among the displaced civilians who later returned home after Iraq claimed that the city was secure and no one would be harmed.
The Kurdistan Photographers Association condemned the homicide of the cameraman, stating that Hashd al-Shaabi’s chauvinist mentality never acknowledged the legitimate rights of Kurds.
