Iran's assassination in Denmark confirms warnings of threat to Swedish and exile rites
Iranian regime intelligence service planned an assault against a dissident in Denmark. It announces Danish police on Tuesday. The suspicions of an immediate attack were behind the giant effort that closed most of Denmark on 28 September. The Öresund Bridge also closed in the direction of Sweden during the operation.
"According to Dan Borch Andersen, the Danish Security Service (PET) chief executive, it was suspected that Iranian intelligence service planned to conduct an assault against a specific person in Denmark," reports Svt.
"A person who is a Norwegian citizen with an Iranian background was arrested in Gothenburg on Sunday, 21 October. [The man] is now arrested in Copenhagen suspected of involvement in the suspiciously planned attack, "reports Svt and refers to data from SÄPO.
"We received a request from the Danish Security Service (PET) and then we have arrested a person suspected of crimes committed in Denmark," said Karl Melin at Säpos's press service to TT.
The detained man denies crimes. "The man arrested is suspected of having performed reconnaissance before the attack," said the pet boss and adds. "He does not necessarily have to be the one who would do it".
The attack was aimed at a person from the Iranian group Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahwaz (ASMLA), which is an independence movement from southwest Iran.
The Danish security service has been watching the person since last spring after receiving information about concrete threats to the individual. It reports Svt on Tuesday with reference to PET data.
"There was a significant threat that is still ongoing and Danish security service has for some time worked with Swedish and Norwegian security services around the case. The fact that a foreign security service plans an attack in Denmark is a very unusual and serious situation, "said the PET chief to the media.
The Danish government is serious about the planned attack and will react. "Denmark is currently talking with European partners on further initiatives," writes the country's foreign minister, Anders Samuelsen, on Facebook.
FFFI has on several occasions warned of the Iranian regime's espionage and threats against Swedish and exile militia and regime critic in Sweden. The latest occasion was at a meeting with the Foreign Ministry after the French and Belgian authorities stopped the Tehran regime's planned bombing against the Iranians' great gathering for a free and democratic Iran in Paris.
Iran is one of the countries reporting intelligence in Sweden. It is no secret that the Iranian Embassy in Stockholm maps, monitors, harasses and threatens people with Persian backgrounds in Sweden, including dissidents and refugees.
The Iranian regime also continues to expel Sweden for espionage and emergency operations daily, according to a report from the Security Police SÄPO in June.
The government will hold a press conference at 6.30pm on Tuesday evening in the UK regarding the attack in Denmark, according to Svt.
