The United States does not extend exemptions for Iranian oil
The United States will not extend the exemption the exception that allows some countries to buy oil from Iran, writes the White House in a statement.
"This decision is intended to cause Iran's oil exports to be zeroed, to deny the regime's main source of income," the statement said.
In August last year, the United States introduced new sanctions against Iran's oil exports, since Donald Trump decided that the United States would leave the Iran Agreement. But eight countries were granted a state of emergency - permits that will not be renewed, the White House announces.
"This decision is intended to make Iran's oil exports zero and to deny the regime's main source of income". says White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.
According to The Hill, Italy, Greece and Taiwan have already stopped importing oil from Iran, so they did not need a renewed permit.
