For the first time, a philosophy course for women will be taught

For the first time, a philosophy course for women will be taught.

In a statement to Warvin, (Samal Ali) lecturer at Raparin University and researcher in philosophy stated that this is the first time that such courses will be taught in the Kurdistan region for women, the aim is to introduce the fields of philosophy to the Kurdish women and evaluate the role of women from philosophical point of view.


The title of the course is (the gateway to philosophy for women) and will be taught in (Andesha) center on (April 24, 2013) and last for one month.

(Samal Ali) also said “in the first months, the topics of the course will be defining philosophy, answering the big cultural question which says what is philosophy, on the 3rd and 4th week, we will talk about the importance of philosophy for women.”

That lecturer hoped that the educational institutions consider studying the philosophy question and he hoped that a department will be opened at the universities for that science and enhance the role of women in this field.

Samal Ali was born in Slemani, in the late eighties of the last century, he went to Britain and settled down in London, he finished college there and started researching philosophy since 1993, he got a BSc and MA degree in that field.

After coming back to the Kurdistan region, he is teaching in philosophy department of Raparin University since 2011, he is an assistant and member in many academic philosophical groups in the UK, such as the female philosophers of the UK group, the European philosophy group, and the Britain philosophy group.
