The three presidencies of the region will be whistled.

The campaign will be held on (April 22, 2013) which marks the 115th anniversary of the publication of the first Kurdish newspaper (Kurdistan) in the capital of Egypt, Cairo.

On this occasion, (Niaz Abdulla) a woman journalist from Hawler, demands the Kurdistan region’s presidencies to stop discrimination of freedom of expression and journalism.

In a statement to Warvin,(Niaz Abdulla) the owner of the idea and the organizer of the “whistle” campaign said the journalists, intellectuals and the artists will gather tomorrow in front of the Kurdistan parliament so that they whistle and raise yellow card to the region presidencies and demand a limitation to the discrimination. 

Like (Niaz) said, whistler has been used as a tool to warn, stop and delivering a message since back in the days. 

She said “the traffic police and the match referee use whistler and they set the beginning and the end of a match with whistling. 

The whistling activity at the Parliament, the government and the high judicial council will start tomorrow at (10:30 AM) in front of the region’s parliament and the individual condemnation will be presented in front of high judicial council and the council of ministers.
 
Later, (whistle in 300 seconds), an artistic play will be performed in front of the parliament and Niz Abdulla will play the lead role.

It is planned that (Ali Mahmood) human rights activist will stand in front of council of ministers and (Kamaran Muhamad) the civil society activist will stand in front of the high judicial council, they whistle at the government and the judicial authority and raise yellow card.

For those people who want to participate in the whistling campaign, (Niaz Abdulla) said “everybody can be a part of this campaign by changing their Facebook profile pictures to a photo of them while they whistle”.

At the end of the activity in front of the parliament, the activists will send a memorandum to the parliament and they demand them to implement the rule of law and monitor the status of expression and journalism freedom and confront any discrimination against journalists.
