Turkey has escalated the difference’s pace with Greece after the latter released 8 Turkish army’s officers who are accused by Erdogan's AKP Party of the failed coup d’état attempt in July 2016.
A Turkish F16 squadron hovered low over the Greek Aegean islands for more than 20 minutes on Tuesday.
The fate of the 8 officers remains in the hands of the Greek authorities since they landed with their helicopters on the northern borders one day after the failed coup d’état attempt in Turkey.
Ankara has asked Athens to extradite the 8 officers who denied their involvement in the failed coup d’état attempt, but Athens has refused to repatriate them.
Sky News reported that the Greek authorities transferred the 8 Turkish officers two days ago from a police lock-up after the pre-trial period of 18 months, and they were placed in very secret destinations under intense police protection.
