Sanandaj; Khabat Mafakheri was arrested by intelligence repressive forces

An environmental activist and member of the Kurdistan Green Party was arrested by intelligence repressive forces.

Khabat Mafakheri was arrested on Tuesday, August 10, at his private home in Sanandaj.

This civil activist was arrested in early September of last year by the repressive forces of the Sanandaj Intelligence Agency, accompanied by physical violence and beatings.

Earlier, Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj sentenced Khabat Mafakheri to four years in prison on charges of associating and collaborating with Kurdish opposition parties.

Mr. Mafakheri was temporarily released from Sanandaj Central Prison in mid-January 2020, after spending 133 days in detention on a 200 million Toman bail.

According to informed sources, following the intervention and pressure of corrupt security institutions, the Second Investigation Branch of the Sanandaj Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office, headed by Shah Goldi, extended the detention of this civil activist several times.
