"Defeat the Islamic Republic too? Israel's advance in southern Lebanon is a defeat for the mullahs, and they know that if they intervene, they will be defeated."
The Ali al-Taher Heights incident in southern Lebanon may at first glance seem like just another operation against Hezbollah, but what makes this case important is what is said to have been built under these heights.
Israel speaks of a large underground network, command centers and weapons depots; an infrastructure that, according to the Israeli army, has been developed over the years with the role and support of Iran.
On the other hand, Reuters reported, citing informed sources, that a number of IRGC forces were also present in the area; a matter that has not yet been independently confirmed.
But perhaps the most important part of the story is this:
Tehran had warned before the operation that Ali al-Taher would be seized, but Israel continued the operation.
Now here’s the real question:
If the Islamic Republic doesn’t respond broadly, will Israel see this as a signal to continue attacks on other Hezbollah infrastructure?
And if it does respond directly and massively, will it open the door to a broader confrontation between Iran and Israel?
Ali al-Tahir may be just a high point;
But what happened there could be a test of the Islamic Republic’s deterrence credentials in the region.

Today, September 4, Israel took control of Ali al-Taher Hill in southern Lebanon.
Why it matters:
▪️ It is Hezbollah's biggest underground weapons complex in the south.
▪️ The group's largest "missile city" is said to sit beneath it.
▪️ Israel has bombed the entrances and exits.
▪️ Reports say dozens of Hezbollah commanders and a large number of IRGC personnel are trapped inside — facing death from thirst and hunger within days if no rescue comes.
The punchline: the same officials who screamed "southern Lebanon is our red line" during the Islamabad understanding with Trump are now completely silent.
The red lines are being erased one by one. This is the final stage of the rollback.

وە ئەگەر ڕاستەوخۆ و بە شێوەیەکی بەرفراوان وەڵام بداتەوە، ئایا دەرگای ڕووبەڕووبوونەوەیەکی فراوانتر لە نێوان ئێران و ئیسرائیل دەکاتەوە؟
ڕەنگە عەلی تاهیر تەنها خاڵێکی بەرز بێت؛
بەڵام ئەوەی لەوێ ڕوویدا، دەکرێت تاقیکردنەوەیەک بێت بۆ بڕوانامەی خۆپارێزی کۆماری ئیسلامی لە ناوچەکەدا.
ڕای ئێوە چییە؟
ئایا ئیسرائیل شاخێکی گرت، یان هێڵی سووری شکاند؟
گەورەترین شاری مووشەکی حزبوڵڵا کەوتە خوارەوە — و تاران هیچ ناڵێت.
ئەمڕۆ ٤ی ئەیلول، ئیسرائیل گردی عەلی ئەلتاهر لە باشووری لوبنان کۆنترۆڵکرد.
بۆچی گرنگە:
