PARIS - ANF
The International İmralı delegation support group, which involves worldwide known names such as Nelson Mandela's lawyer Essa Moosa, Noam Chomsky, Tarıq Ali and David Graber, will be in Strasbourg on April 18 and take over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil.
Within this scope, Judge Essa Moosa has paid several visits in the French capital Paris today. Moosa firstly visited the scene where Dulcie September was assassinated on March 29, 1988.
Moosa later headed to the Kurdistan Information Office where a PKK-founder Sakine Cansız, KNK member Fidan Doğan and Kurdish Youth's Movement member Leyla Şaylemez were murdered on January 9, 2013. Moosa said the followings regarding the political murder committed in Paris; "We will never forget our friends that sacrificed themselves for their peoples and humanity. These murders committed at separate but close locations in the French capital have much similarity. The assassination of three Kurdish female revolutionaries after the beginning of peace talks in İmralı brings to minds firstly the involvement of Turkey which houses anti-peace circles and secret agencies of many other countries."
Moosa underlined that these political murders in Paris will remain as a dark page in the French justice unless light is shed on them.
Drawing attention to the ongoing isolation of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, Judge Essa Moosa said that; "Four weeks ago, we as a delegation travelled to Turkey and conveyed to the Ministry of Justice our demand to visit Mr. Öcalan in İmralı. Yet, we couldn't receive a reply. During the course of our visit in Turkey, we took some steps in order for the resolution of this issue together with academics and peace activists. We have repeatedly told Turkey since 2005 that this problem should be solved on the basis of dialogue. We believe Öcalan's freedom will conduce toward the achievement of a lasting peace in Kurdistan and the Middle East, and this idea of ours is voiced by numerous Middle East experts as well. Kurds have continuously voiced concerns over the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan. We do share the same concern. On this basis, we as the International İmralı delegation team will support the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil which is ongoing in the French city of Strasbourg. We will have talks with CPT and several other institutions and try to put pressure on Turkey in order for the removal of this isolation.”
The Freedom for Öcalan vigil outside the Council of Europe building in Strasbourg was started by Kurds on 25 June 2012 to ask the European Council, European Parliament, European Union countries and western countries like the USA to "stop their political, military and economic support to Turkey, for the freedom of the Kurdish Leader Mr Abdullah Öcalan and for the recognition of the Kurdish peoples' status in all parts of Kurdistan".
