Urgent report on the inhumane conditions of the women's ward of Yazd Prison
According to a report published on social media, Yazd Prison is witnessing a humanitarian disaster in the women's ward of this prison.
The detainees of the recent protests are facing heavy sentences, judicial uncertainty, and inhumane conditions of detention. A number of the detained women have faced heavy sentences simply for their activities on social media, such as reposting and liking posts. In addition to the inhumane conditions of the prison, the failure to observe the principle of separation of crimes and the detention of political detainees and prisoners alongside prisoners with drug offenses severely threatens their physical and mental health.
In the meantime, the condition of Zeinab Jalalian, as the oldest female political prisoner, is extremely serious. She is spending her 18th year in exile and deprived of basic rights, and needs urgent medical attention to prevent blindness.
The Committee for the Release of Political Prisoners calls on the international community to take immediate action on the following:
1- Pressure on the regime and the authorities of Yazd Prison to improve prison conditions and observe the principle of separation of crimes in Yazd Prison.
2- Immediate release of Zeinab Jalalian and other detainees and political prisoners in this prison
