 Detention of Lawyer #Zahra_Naghshineh in Tabriz Following Judicial Summons

Zahra Naghshineh, a lawyer and member of the East Azerbaijan Bar Association, was detained on Wednesday, September 9, after appearing at Branch 15 of the Investigative Office of the Tabriz Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office.

 

According to reports, Naghshineh had appeared at the branch in response to a summons. Sina Yousefi, a lawyer and human rights activist, stated that the summons listed the charge as "lacking criminal nature" (*faqed-e vasf-e jaza'i*); the case was opened based on a report by the Tabriz Intelligence Department regarding the lawyer's activities and her legal and critical writings.

In addition to her legal practice, Zahra Naghshineh has been active in professional advocacy and women's rights, having served on the Bar Association's Women's Commission and the secretariat for the prevention of violence against women.
