6 Kurdish men rape 16 year old refugee syrian kurdish girl
ERBIL-Hewlêr, Kurdistan region 'Iraq',— Iraqi Kurdistan court has jailed the six Kurdish men who raped a Syrian Kurdish refugee girl last January in Erbil for a combined 59 years. 

On Wednesday Erbil police revealed the Erbil court’s final decision on the sixrapists who raped Syrian Kurdish girl aged 16, with three of them imprisoned for 15 years each and two of them seven years each, and the last one the court to make a decision on him in near future.

Erbil Police Spokesman Karwan Khoshnaw told Basnews that January 6th, six men raped a Kurdish Syrian girl aged 16 and after Erbil police arrested them, the trails began, and finally the court has reached a decision on the case.



“The court has created a separate case for the sixth rapist that so far the court has not made the final decision,” added Khoshnaw.

Meanwhile, the victim’s attorney said that the family is happy that the case has ended and the guilty men has been jailed.

“The girl and the family with the help of UN has left Kurdistan region and they have immigrated to Australia,’ said the girl’s lawyer Sirwan Aziz.

The girl was on her way home from a supermarket where she was working was abducted and then raped by the six men on Jan 6th 2014.



After the accident, Syrian refugees in Kurdistan region demonstrated in protests and in defense http://www.Ekurd.net of the rights of the girl, raising posters and slogans that the six rapists should be hanged.

Hundredthousands of Syrian refugees have came to Kurdistan since the intensification of the fighting in their country as the vast majority are Kurds who were displaced the Qamishli province and Afrin and Kobani in Syrian Kurdistan region.

Iraqi Kurdistan's authorities distributed the refugee in camps in Erbil, Sulaimaniyah and Duhok, however, tens of thousands reside in the centers of cities in the region and many of them work in restaurants, cafes, shopping malls and construction work.
