About this we must tell you

About this we must tell you
About this we must tell you. We must never be silent about this. It is extremely pleasing that the yazidi courier Nadia Murad received the Nobel Peace Prize along with the gynecologist Denis Mukwege.
Nadia's story concerns me personally. I have met several women and men who have been in the hands of the IS terrorists. It is extremely important that the world hear about the enormous brutality that is still under way. The ideologies that enable this must be stopped.

Nadia Murad was captured by IS 2014 when she and thousands of other women, many were just children, were kidnapped from their homes in Sinjarbergen, Iraq. The Jihadists killed her mother and six of her brothers. Nadia was captured and sold as sex slave but managed to fly after a few months. These women are treated in ways that are so cruel that a person's imagination is barely enough to describe the suffering.

I met several women like Nadia, and men who had been captured by IS. Their stories I will never be able to shake off. Once when I was in the city of Kobane where I ran a rehabilitation center, I met a man who was yazidi-kurd. He picked up his phone to show a text he received. The message was sent from a brothel in the so-called capital al-Raqqah.

The text was sent from a 16-year-old Yazidi girl who wrote that she was with 800 other kidnapped girls between 8-25 years old who were abused and exploited as sex slaves. Somehow, she had come across a phone and sent the message to the man I was talking to because they were related and she could have his number. His eyes were torn when he showed the message to me. I read how she described the building they were in and how she prayed and asked him to inform the American troops so that they could bomb the building because they could not live anymore.

I could not stop thinking about those women, it affected me immensely. In addition to the 800, we knew that thousands of others were also kidnapped during this period. Even today, 3000 are still expected to remain in captivity. Nadia Murad managed to escape and, despite the huge trauma she has to bear, daring to tell is very strong and important.

On another occasion during my time in Syria, two patients came to me. They had been released after being kidnapped for four days. When YPG / J attacked the village where they were held, the terrorists got in a hurry and could not take hostage when they were flying. Instead, they forced them to the ground and shot them from behind.

The attack against the IS bracket went quite fast and they found these two guys alive. One, Ali, had two shots in his head. The other, Agit, had 6-7 shots in the back. Surprisingly, they both survived and became my patients.
Agit var förlamad från ländryggen och nedåt och Ali andra från halsen och nedåt. Men båda kunde prata.

One of them described the feeling that he had no legs left in the body, but was a bloody bag of meat. Then there were other things that I only thought were things that were not said. One of them always wanted us to be alone. For many long hours I listened to their and others' similar stories. I wanted them to emptied, get out so much it just went.

That Nadia Murad was awarded the Peace Prize is important. About this we must tell you.

I try to tell you as much as I can, I have written about my experiences in the book Coban's syndrome, I read some, I've written here and I'm happy to tell you about what I've experienced. We must never shut up for these things. We humans must never shut up for what is going on around us. We can never make excuses. These things can not be relativized. Sometimes when I'm talking, I face anxious comments like, "but you have to think about how IS was created ..." or "It's not important to brand all Muslims"

No. Who has done it? This is about fascists, about terrorists, about brutal killers. It does not matter where it happens or who does it. Such must be combated in whatever form they are. To quote Nadia Murad:

"Help my people. Fry our girls. Wipe out the terrorists "
