Forty-two summonses and threats on the eve of system appointments.

Reporters Without Borders reports that 42 Iranian journalists have been summoned and threatened on the eve of the Islamic Republic's by-elections.

According to Human Rights Watch, Reporters Without Borders condemned the lack of independent information, censorship of the media, and threats by journalists against the Islamic Republic, citing at least 42 summonses and threats against journalists.

The global organization said in a statement that with threats, censorship, repression of critics, blocking of information websites and social networks, it is not possible to hold 1,400 elections in a democratic and transparent manner.

The statement said that in recent weeks, some institutions and figures opposed to and critical of the regime inside and outside Iran have emphasized in various statements the boycott of the by-elections.

Simultaneously with this approach, the Islamic Republic of Iran has increased pressure on domestic and foreign media and journalists.
