Horrible Narratives of Afkari Brothers from Torture and Complete Immunity of Perpetrators and Commanders - New Research Findings.

A forthcoming investigative report released by Amnesty International on the occasion of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture documents the horrific details of torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of Vahid Afkari and Habib Afkari. Afkari brothers are among the protesters of the 1397 protests and have been imprisoned unjustly ever since. The leading report also shows how Iranian prosecutors and judiciary officials have ignored or dismissed numerous complaints filed by these detainees in hopes of clarifying the facts, establishing justice and reparations from within the prison.

Amnesty International reiterates its previous call for the release of Vahid Afkari and Habib Afkari, as their detention is an example of unruly detention. Those who are reasonably suspected of involvement in the torture of Vahid Afkari and Habib Afkari should be prosecuted and prosecuted fairly if sufficient evidence is found against them. This includes intelligence officers, Ministry of Intelligence agents, officials of Adelabad Prison, and investigators from Branches 8 and 10 of the Shiraz Special Criminal and Security Crimes Prosecutor's Office.

Amnesty International notes that the enormous injustice suffered by the Brotherhood is a chronic and widespread epidemic of torture in Iran that has resulted in a variety of forms of torture against detainees and prisoners, including those detained in connection with the November 2017 protests. Beatings, floggings, electric shocks, hanging, being forced to sit or stand in painful situations, artificial executions, induction of suffocation with water, sexual violence, forced prescribing of chemicals and denial of access to medical care are among the methods of torture recorded in They were in Iran. Suspects of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment are almost never prosecuted, let alone held accountable and punished.

Given the dominance of systematic immunity in Iran for the widespread use of torture and other serious international crimes, including the killing of protesters in November 2009 and crimes against humanity and continuing killings in the summer of 1988, Amnesty International has requested that The United Nations reiterates its commitment to establishing an independent mechanism for litigation and accountability.
