The Iranian misogyny regime continues against women,,Sanandaj court sends woman activist to jail to serve sentence

Branch 4 of the Enforcement of Judgments Office of the court of Sanandaj has summoned today the environmental activist Faranak Jamshidi and sent her to the Juvenile Detention Centre of Sanandaj to serve her one-year sentence in prison, sources told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

Security forces had arrested Jamshidi, who is a member of the Green Kurdistan Society, at her family home in Sanandaj on 28 June 2020. She was released on 10 November on a bail of 200 million Iranian Tomans – nearly 8,000 USD – after four and a half months of detention.

Branch 1 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj – presided over by Judge Saeidi – had sentenced the activist to four years in prison on charges of “membership in a Kurdish opposition party”. After her appeal against the ruling, Branch 4 of the Court of Appeals commuted her sentence to one year in prison.

Security agencies have previously summoned Jamshidi several times during a large-scale mass arrest of environmental activists and members of the Kurdistan branch of the National Unity Party in the fall of 2018. She was interrogated about her activities and those of her husband Armin Esperlous, who was in custody at the time.
