Four members of the "Green Chia" association died after an accident near the city of Saqez in Kurdistan province.

According to Avatudi; Sholeh Ghaderi, Arsham Azizi, Davood Bakhish and Kaveh Khosrowzadeh, members of the Green Chia Association mountaineering group, who were on their way to Baneh to condemn the fire in the Zagros forests, had an accident near Saqez and lost their lives.

The Green Chia Association has issued a statement; Four members of the group were traveling to the city to climb the Zagros forests on a joint climb with the mountaineering group of the Pajin Baneh Environmental Association to condemn the burning of the Zagros forests.

Over the years, members of the Green Chia Association have worked peacefully with other environmental groups and organizations to contain widespread wildfires or to save the lives of Colburns trapped in impassable culverts.

Four other members of the Green Chia Association, Sharif Bajur, Omid Kohnehpooshi, Mohammad Pajoohi and Rahmat Hakiminia, died on September 23, 2016, after a fire in the forests of Pileh and Selsi villages.

Also, three environmental activists of the Green Association of Zhivai Paveh, named Yasin Karimi, Bilal Amini and Mokhtar Khandani, were caught in the fire and died last year while extinguishing the fires in the forests of Bozin and Marakhil Paveh.

Despite their peaceful cultural, social and environmental activities, the members of these associations are constantly threatened, arrested and prosecuted by the security forces of the Islamic Republic.
