Russian military sources report that units of the "North" Group of Forces continue offensive operations in the Kharkiv sector, having begun an assault on the village of Shevchenkove after previously announcing the capture of the border settlement of Hraniv.
The reports also state that Russian troops have made additional advances in the area between Veterynarne and Hraniv as part of efforts to expand operations in northern Kharkiv Oblast.
According to Russian sources, securing this area would help expand what Moscow describes as a "security buffer zone" inside Kharkiv Oblast and create conditions for a further advance toward the town of Kozacha Lopan, which is considered an important logistical hub for Ukrainian forces in this sector of the front.
The reports further claim that the town is being used as a base for operating Ukrainian drones that target areas inside Russia's Belgorod Oblast.
