 Report: Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei in Extremely Critical Condition, Could Die at Any Moment.

 

Iran’s opaque regime is facing another shock at the very top, with IranWire reporting that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is in extremely critical condition and may be close to death.

The report, citing two sources close to President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration, says rumors of Khamenei’s possible imminent death are now circulating at the highest levels of the regime. One source close to the cabinet told IranWire: “We would not be surprised if we heard news of his martyrdom soon.”

Khamenei has not met with cabinet members since the U.S.-Israeli strike on the Supreme Leader’s compound that killed his father, Ali Khamenei, and other family members, according to the report. Since taking power, he has made no public appearances, delivered no public speeches, and has only issued written statements attributed to him by official Iranian media.

The mystery around him has been building for months. Reuters previously reported that Mojtaba Khamenei suffered severe facial and leg injuries in the strike that killed his father, while noting that his condition and ability to govern remained largely hidden from the public. Iran’s U.N. mission did not respond to Reuters questions about the extent of his injuries.

Even Pezeshkian has now publicly acknowledged the wall around Iran’s leader, saying in a televised interview that reaching Mojtaba Khamenei is “very difficult.” That admission, combined with the absence of any public proof of life, is feeding a dangerous question inside Tehran: who is actually running the Islamic Republic if its Supreme Leader is too weak to appear, speak, or meet his own government?

For Israel and the West, the significance is clear. The regime that funds Hamas, Hezbollah, PIJ, and other Iran-backed terrorist proxies may be facing a leadership crisis at the worst possible moment: wounded, secretive, internally divided, and increasingly dependent on the IRGC to hold the system together.
