 The student protests in France and the police response to the students are surprising; treating teenagers with such a high level of violence calls democracy into question.

 America will look like this one day in the not-so-distant future if we allow the DSA to take control of our cities, states, and country‼️France didn't always look like it does now.

French high school students have blockaded hundreds of lycées over teacher shortages, overcrowded classes and run-down buildings. As of October 1st, the protests have hit 356 schools and spread to universities. By Wednesday, hundreds of students had received detention - mostly minors, with 83 police injured;
Thursday's toll was higher still, with fires at schools in Nantes and Rouen.
Staff are being targeted, too - a teacher in Auchel was hospitalized after a firework exploded beside him, another in Clermont-Ferrand was hit in the head by a mortar, and teachers in Marseille were splashed with petrol.

The government called the complaints real and the violence unjustified.In Alençon, a high school student was strangled by a police officer for taking part in a protest. This is not just an isolated incident; similar scenes have played out across France.

This systemic policy of repressing youth protests brings collective shame upon us.

Young people are asking for the resources to study with dignity. How can we expect future citizens to trust the Republic when it responds to their activism with such violence?

I offer my full support to this student and to all the young people who have been victims of violence on the sidelines of recent protests.
