Biden government agrees to sell F35 fighter jets to UAE

The United States Government announced on the evening of Tuesday, April 13, 2021, that it will continue to advance the $ 23 billion military agreement with the United Arab Emirates, which was signed during the presidency of Donald Trump.

A State Department spokesman told The Hilll that "we can emphasize that the US government is determined to continue the contract for the sale of defense products to the UAE."

Former United States President Donald Trump announced the signing of an arms deal with Abu Dhabi for the first time last year after the signing of the Ibrahim Peace Agreement between the UAE and Israel.

The $ 23 billion military deal includes the sale of 50 F-35 Lighting II fighter jets and other defense systems to the UAE.

The State Department said last January that it had temporarily halted sales so that the new administration, led by Biden Biden, could review the deal as part of its normal course of action.

"The delivery times for this sales contract have been set for us after 2025," a State Department spokesman said.

"We expect stable and strong talks with the United Arab Emirates on a defense transfer operation that meets our common strategic goals," he added.
