Catherine Perez Shakedam, a French-British Jewish analyst, who recently made headlines for her presence in Iran and her article for the Times of Israel, said in an interview with BBC Persian's 60 Minutes program, "I am not a spy or an agent of any country, I was simply a political analyst."

In this exclusive interview, in response to the question of why she gave her article to the Times of Israel, she said, "I decided to give my story to this Israeli newspaper. I felt that people in both Iran and Israel should know and gain a different perspective on developments in the Middle East."

Catherine Perez-Shakdam's name was raised after she wrote about her experience in Iran in a note for the Times of Israel website, in which she warned against the "anti-Semitism" of the Islamic Republic's rulers and the country's nuclear program.

Catherine Perez-Shakdam, however, said she had never traveled to Israel and had no contact with the country's authorities.

However, in an article published in The Times of Israel a few months ago, she wrote that she was so eager to enter the circle of the government that she had not revealed her real motive. What was her real motive: “I had several motives...Iran has always been a fascinating country to me, in terms of its history and the revolution that took place and the major changes that took place in the country’s political system and ideology, and I was very keen to see this up close and witness history...
