Teachers in Iran go to the general strike in protest against the regime
Teachers and culture workers in Iran went on a general strike on Sunday in protest against low wages and the regime's education ministry.

The strike comes before the start of the year and is taking place in several Iranian cities across the country, including Tehran, Esfehan, Shiraz and Mashhad.

The teachers' union, the Coordinating Council of Teachers Syndicates in Iran (CCTSI), had called for a two-day general strike in a letter criticizing the regime's education ministry for decisions that worsened the situation of teachers and students.

Teachers in Iran generally have very low wages. But the situation of teachers has worsened by the economic crisis in the country and the Ministry of Education's budget cuts. This while the regime continues to spend billions of dollars on supporting terrorism abroad.

At the same time, students at the University of Tehran protested against the regime in connection with the presidency president Hassan Rouhani's speech for the school's start of the year. Students were not released into the aulan but protested outside with the slogan against the clergy and Rouhani.

The teachers thus join lorry drivers who are in a nationwide strike for three weeks back.

Tehran Bazar (big market) and markets in several other Iranian cities also went out last week in a coordinated protest against the regime's repressive measures as well as the extensive corruption and increased poverty in the country.
