Teacher Union Member Arrested in Sanandaj.
Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that Mokhtar Asadi, a member of the Kurdistan Teacher Association was detained on Thursday, February 14 and taken to an unknown location several hours after a protest gathering in front of the Kurdistan Provincial Education and Training Office in Sanandaj.


According to a reliable source, the activist was returning home with his family wehn arrested and he was detained by security agents without a warrant.
Mokhtar Asadi holds a Master’s degree in Sociology from Tehran University and he is a Trade & Kurdish Rights activist. He was sentenced to exile and imprisonment between 2005 and 2010 due to his activities.
He was exiled from Sanandaj to Karaj for years. In 2010, he was arrested in Karaj and locked up at Evin Prison for 66 days before being released on bail.
This activist was later sentenced to one year in prison by Branch 15 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran, headed by judge Salavati, on charges of “propaganda against the state”. The verdict was later confirmed and he was arrested in September 2018 to serve his term and released in July 2018 after one year’s imprisonment from Evin Prison.
