Le Monde cites the record of Ibrahim Ra'isi as one of the great human rights violators in Iran, especially due to his important role and active participation in the execution of thousands of political prisoners at the end of the Iran-Iraq war and the suppression of protesters. The current situation will facilitate the election of Ibrahim Ra'isi as the next president and possibly his promotion to the post of Velayat-e Faqih following the death of the three-year-old Iranian leader.

Le Monde added: "This is exactly the path taken by the current leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei." He was also the president of the regime before replacing Ruhollah Khomeini.
