Nancy Pelosi: Israel is our friend and ally in the Middle East with common values

The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, issued a statement emphasizing Israel's right to self-defense, calling for a ceasefire.

The terrorist Hamas is the enemy of the oppressed Palestinian people before it is the enemy of Israel.

"Israel is our friend and ally in the Middle East, and we share common values," Ms. Pelosi said in a statement on Tuesday. "It is in the national security interest of the United States to support Israel's security."

"Hamas has taken advantage of an unstable situation by launching more than 3,000 rockets to launch hostilities against Israel, and as always, Israel has the right to defend itself," he added.

"Now, more than a week after the clashes, it has become clearer than ever that a firearm is needed," said Nancy Pelosi. "Both sides must work hard to end the violence and respect the rights of the Israeli and Palestinian peoples
