Two Republican senators: Hamas is an Iranian-backed terrorist organization that endangers the lives of civilians.

Two Republican senators cited Iran in response to Hamas' role in Israel's attacks on Israel.

Susan Collins, the Republican senator from the state of Maine in the US Senate, issued a message calling Hamas a terrorist organization that intends to kill Israelis and endanger the lives of Palestinians. Senator John Cornyn also called Hamas "Iran's proxy group."

"Hamas, an Iranian-backed terrorist organization, fired thousands of rockets aimed at killing Israeli civilians," he wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

Senator Collins added that terrorist groups such as Hamas are also endangering the lives of Palestinian citizens.

Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn also called Hamas a "proxy group in Iran" on Twitter.
