Racism is rooted in religion. Racists have used religion to facilitate and facilitate genocide.

Racism is a deranged mental illness

Racism is rooted in religion. Racists have used religion to facilitate and facilitate genocide.

A large part of religions is discrimination against women. All religions have always been hostile to women and have reinforced misogyny in the minds of men.

This statement (“Racism is rooted in religion”) is a view that some people put forward, but the historical and sociological reality is more complex than that. 👇

Let’s examine a few angles:

🔹 1. Racism existed before organized religions

Archaeological and historical evidence shows that ethnic, tribal, and racial discrimination existed long before the emergence of major religions (such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam).

In early societies, the “other” was usually considered an enemy or alien, and this distinction was made based on tribe, language, or skin color—not necessarily on religious belief.

🔹 2. Religions have sometimes justified racism

At times, some religious groups or interpreters of sacred texts have used religion to justify the superiority of one race or people.

For example, the Turks have used Islam to kill Kurds in many places throughout history. There are many examples, and the Arabs and Persians have also used religion as a tool against the Kurds and issued fatwas to massacre the Kurds.

For example: Hitler massacred 6 million Jews under the name of Christianity, which everyone has witnessed in history.

In the Middle Ages, some Christian texts were used to justify slavery or colonialism.

In the Islamic world, there have also been interpretations of verses about different ethnic groups that have led to discrimination.

But this is an abuse of religion, necessarily the essence of religion itself.

🔹 3. There are also racist religious messages within religious texts.

The Quran says: “Indeed, the most honorable of you in the sight of Allah is your piety” (Al-Hujurat: 13) — meaning the standard of superiority, piety of race or color. But what is seen in behavior and actions is different from what is stated, they are obsolete.

In the New Testament, the apostle Paul says: "In Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, religion itself is a form of religious and religious slavery. Slavery and not freedom. Religion is anti-freedom, anti-humanity..."

These verses show that the principle of monotheistic religions is based on the equality of humans. If we look at the wars of religious people, their work is rape, looting of property, and taking women and girls. Using Coptic women, religious books as sex slaves, and selling girls in the markets for selling women exist in religion.

🔹 4. The main source of racism is social and psychological

Most modern research in sociology and social psychology says that racism stems from fear of difference, competition for resources, and power structures, directly from religion and religion itself with its hostility to non-religious people as infidels and the order to kill them has caused many to be brainwashed to kill humans.

Therefore, we can say: Saddam Hussein attacked the Kurds under the name of the verses of Anfal 8 and buried 182,000 Kurds alive and we all witnessed the discovery of mass graves in Iraq. Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa of jihad against the Kurds of eastern Kurdistan in 1981 and committed the massacre of many Kurdish women and children by Khalkhali. Erdogan used religious words in two attacks on the Kurds of Syria under the name of religion and committed the massacre of Kurds, and Turkish religious leaders issued a fatwa that killing Kurds is permissible according to Islam. Hamas attacked under the name of religion and declared the killing of Jews a religious matter and even a reward, one of them shouted, "I killed a Jew, Dad, I'm going to heaven."

Racism has always overlapped with religion, but its roots are not necessarily religious; it is more of a social, historical and psychological phenomenon that has sometimes used religion to justify itself.

If you want, I can give you historical examples of how religion has been used to reinforce racism — you're welcome to open that section too. The example of ISIS's treatment of the Yazidis and the treatment of the Al-Qaeda regime in Syria with the Druze people and Christians, everyone saw it with their own eyes.
