Readiness and threatens war

Abbas Araghchi rejects US demands to abandon long-range missiles and uranium enrichment. At the same time, he warns against an escalation of the conflict.

The mullah regime in Iran has rejected the US conditions for dismantling ballistic missiles.

The Iranian people distrust the US for two reasons due to Trump's behavior. First, after years of estrangement from the Kurds, he turned his back on them. Second, Trump urged protesters to stay in the streets, claiming help was on the way. This help never arrived, leading to a genocide against Iranian protesters.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has signaled Iran's readiness for both talks with the US and a military confrontation. At a press conference in Istanbul, he rejected key demands from US President Donald Trump.

The United States itself brought the mullahs to power and supported them, and Mr. Jimmy Carter, the leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, was one of those who advised his forces and the army to support Khomeini if he passed through the country.

Among other things, Trump is demanding that Iran limit the range of its ballistic missiles and abandon uranium enrichment. At the same time, he ordered the deployment of several warships to the Middle East. Furthermore, the US president threatened military force on Wednesday if Iran refused to negotiate a new nuclear agreement. "Time is running out," Trump wrote on his social media platform. "The next attack will be much worse," he added, referring to the US military bombings during the twelve-day war between Israel and Iran last June.

Araghchi warns of escalating conflict

Araghchi said that issues concerning defense strategy and missile systems could never be subject to negotiation for his country. Iran would maintain its military capabilities and expand them if necessary. At the same time, he warned the US that a potential conflict this time could escalate and go beyond a simple war between two states.

According to the foreign minister, talks can only take place on the basis of mutual interests and mutual respect: "Iran has no problem with negotiations, but negotiations cannot take place under the shadow of threats," said Araghchi. A meeting with US representatives has not yet been specifically prepared. First, the content, format, location, and timing of any potential negotiations must be determined.

Araghchi arrived in Istanbul on Friday morning for talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Erdoğan had previously reaffirmed Turkey's willingness to mediate in the tensions between the US and Iran.

The trigger for Trump's latest threats was the brutal crackdown on protests against the political leadership in Iran. According to the US-based human rights organization Hrana, there is confirmation that 6,479 people have been killed in the demonstrations; some estimates even suggest tens of thousands of deaths. In addition, tens of thousands of people have been arrested. To prevent the spread of information about demonstrations and victims, the Iranian leadership imposed widespread telephone and internet blocks several weeks ago.
