🇮🇶🇮🇷 | The IRGC has deployed approximately 800 Iraqi Shia  terrorist and jihadist  islamic militiamen into Iran since early January 2026 to suppress nationwide anti-regime protests that have spread to more than 200 cities across 26 provinces due to economic collapse with open calls for regime change.

The fighters are drawn from Kataib Hezbollah, Harakat al-Nujaba, Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada, and the Badr Organization, all part of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces and designated or sanctioned by the United States. They entered Iran through western border crossings at Shalamcheh, Chazhabeh, and Khosravi.

After entry, the units consolidated at an IRGC base in Ahvaz, Khuzestan Province, before being dispersed to protest hotspots in western and northwestern Iran, including Kermanshah, Ilam, Lorestan, Hamadan, and Kurdish areas.

The operation was likely coordinated by IRGC Quds Force commander Esmail Ghaani following his January 6–8 visit to Baghdad. The militias have been used for intimidation, live fire suppression, arrests with a few reports of raids on hospitals treating protesters.

In regards to the structure, Kataib Hezbollah forms the core enforcement element, conducting armed patrols, live fire engagements, and covert operations. Harakat al-Nujaba handles coordination with IRGC command, intelligence, and propaganda. Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada is embedded at ground level for raids, arrests, and intimidation. The Badr Organization runs logistics, border access, and political cover through its ties to Iraqi state structures and Tehran.
