AKP’s police and soldiers execute more than 400 people in 2016.
AKP’s police and soldiers have captured more than 400 Kurds alive and executed them during the genocidal attacks of 2016. The number of people executed by the police and the army under enemy law just this year has surpassed 400 according to data from the Human Rights Association (İnsan Hakları Derneği – İHD).
A small sample from AKP’s political murders are as follows:
Sêvê Demir, Pakize Nayır and Fatma Uyar were murdered by state forces in Şırnak’s Silopi district on the evening of January 4. It was later found out that the person murdered alongside with the female politicians was Islam Atak (20).
In Van’s Edremit district, 12 HPG members were executed on January 10 in a house raid by the special operations units with the claim that “there was a clash”. Access to the file and autopsy reports on the massacre was barred.
In Mardin’s Kızıltepe district, 4 people lost their lives when special operations police opened fire on a vehicle in Turgut Özal neighborhood on January 12. Witness accounts say the vehicle with the license plate 63 F 1579 was in motion when suddenly it was raked by the police armored vehicles. After the attack, 4 unidentified persons were killed in the vehicle and dozens of bullet holes were seen on the vehicle. Later it was found out that one of the people who were executed was DBP administrator Cengiz Erdem, brother of Aydın Erdem who was murdered by the police in a student protest in Amed in 2009.
In Van, a young man named Nadir Tezgel was executed during a raid by the special operations units on January 21.
In Amed’s Sur district, 7 people including 3 wounded people who were facing the threat of a massacre in a room and who couldn’t be heard from were murdered on March 13. One of them, Dilber Bozkurt, had said the names of 5 out of the 6 others as: Mehmet Abdullah Yalvarma, Mahsun Gürkan, Mazlum Karakoç, Cüneyt Aydemiş, Eşref Polat.
In Badan (Teknedüzü) village and its rural surroundings in Muş’s Varto district, 2 out of 4 HPG members who lost their lives in the military operation on April 6 were reported to be executed after being captured alive. Witnesses said one of the captives was also tortured. People who saw the bodies say “There were at least 70 bullet holes. There were bullets everywhere on his body” and confirm the torture and execution.
In rural areas of Dara village in Hakkari’s Yüksekova district, the gendarmerie special operations units executed 13 people following a clash that continued into the morning on the night of April 10.
In Amed’s Silvan district, it came to light later that 3 out of the 8 people who lost their lives during the bombing on April 14 in Malê Gir and Şêlima regions following the declaration of the curfew were executed.
In Hacıbekir neighborhood in Van’s İpekyolu district, Delil Akyüz (24) who was captured alive in the clash that resulted in one special operations policeman’s death on April 18 was executed.
In Küçükdikili neighborhood in Adana’s Seyhan district, it came to light that in the clashes that broke out following the armed action on the police vehicle on April 18, the 25 year old Ferdi Yıldırım was captured alive and executed. Police kept guard next to Yıldırım’s body until he finally died.
A person called Mahmut Çar was executed during a house raid in Hacıbekir neighborhood in Van’s İpekyolu district on the evneing of April 30.
Soldiers that raided houses in Bêmbo village in Hakkari’s Şemdinli district on May 22 executed the 28 year old Sami Kaplan. Kaplan’s family examined the body in the Forensics Institution and stated that Kaplan was mutilated and dragged on the street.
Zilan Kurt was executed during a house raid on Xaçort neighborhood’s Sürmeli street in Van’s İpekyolu district on July 10.
Special operations forces shot and executed 34 people in Van city center and districts between September 15, 2015 and August 30, 2016.
Zindan Bor and Mehmet Yalçın were captured alive by police officers during a shootout in Seyit Fehim Avrasi neighborhood in Van’s İpekyolu district and were executed on September 21.
Eyewitnesses report that YPS member Reber Yamaç (Reber Amed) was captured alive during the clashes in Van’s Xaçort neighborhood and was executed on October 6.
Aydın Tümen, Serhat Buldan, Nejdet İşyözü and Rahmi Sefalı were massacred by police officers in armored vehicles in Hakkari’s Yüksekova neighborhood on October 8.
Sabiha Üçoş (Evin) was executed by police officers in a civilian vehicle in Bağcılar neighborhood’s Karanfil street in Amed’s Bağlar district on November 22.
4 people were executed during a house raid in Cumhuriyet neighborhood in Urfa’s Viranşehir district on December 4.
26 people, 15 of whom were injured, that were trapped in the basement of a house in Cizre’s Bostancı street were executed in February, 2016.
THEY SHARED THE FOOTAGE
AKP’s police and soldiers sometimes shared the footage of the people they executed, and particularly exposed the bodies of women guerillas they killed. Turkish Airlines pilot Alparslan Tamer Özdemir shared the footage of two women guerillas’ execution on October 29 on his social media accounts.
DOCUMENT OF THE EXECUTION ORDER
Documents showing that state officials ordered the execution of several people also emerged recently. A Turkish Land Forces document stamped “for service only” ordered soldiers to openly carry their arms and to not hesitate when testifying to prosecutors. The “Personnel’s Vigilance Regarding Soldiers’ Use of Arms” document, with the serial number “84933840-3000-350-15”, was issued on July 30, 2015, and promises that soldiers will not be convicted of anything.
