Deprivation of a political prisoner of the right to medical treatment
A political prisoner in Qarchak prison in Varamin, who is in critical condition, has been deprived of the right to proper medical treatment due to his opposition to using handcuffs to be taken to hospital.
Fariba Asadi suffers from kidney disease and rheumatism, and prison officials have denied her access to medicine and medical services.
In recent days, however, he has been denied the right to call his family due to protests over time constraints and the number of times telephone calls are made by prisoners.
The political prisoner, who is the mother of a seven-year-old child, was sentenced to one year in prison by the Second Branch of the Shahriar Revolutionary Court in early October last year on charges of "propaganda against the regime."
Ms. Asadi was arrested by security forces at her private home in Tehran in mid-December and transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin to endure a cruel sentence.
