America warned Ankara about the expansion of economic relations between Turkey and Russia
By sending a letter to one of the Turkish trade unions, the US Treasury Department warned Ankara about possible sanctions, expressing concern about the expansion of economic relations between Turkey and Russia.
Tusiad, the largest association of capitalists and directors of private companies in Turkey, confirmed on Wednesday, September 2, that it has received a letter from the US Treasury Department.
In this letter, it is said that if Turkish banks and industries continue to cooperate with Russia, sanctions may be applied against these institutions.
Russia is trying to circumvent US sanctions by using Turkish banks and financial institutions.
The heads of Turkey and Russia decided to increase their economic and trade relations in the meeting two weeks ago in the Russian city of Sochi.
According to official statistics, Turkey's exports to Russia have increased by 50% in the last two months, and oil imports from Russia have also shown a significant increase.
Ankara has not yet reacted to this American warning.
