Mr. Salih Muslim was a capable, calm politician who was very careful in his work.

 Life and study stations:

Salih Muslim was born in 1951 in the village of Sheran in Kobanê. In the 1970s, he moved to Turkey to study and became a chemical engineer at Istanbul Technical University.

At the same time, under the influence of the Kurdish people's revolutions in South Kurdistan, he became involved in political activities and began his struggle as a young patriot.

Establishment of PYD and the Leadership of the Revolution:

In 2003, Salih Muslim became one of the founders of the Democratic Union Party (PYD). With the onset of the Syrian crisis and the outbreak of the Western revolution, as co-chairman of the party, he played a key role in organizing the people and building an autonomous system of governance. As a skilled diplomat, he brought the Western voice to the political centers of the world.

A passionate father and a resilient leader:

Salih Muslim did not only work behind the tables, but he and his family were at the front of the battlefield. In 2013, his son, a YPG fighter, was martyred in the fight against extremist groups near Greece. “Sharvan was not only my son, he was the son of the whole of Kurdistan,” Muslim said during his son's farewell ceremony.

Relationship with Mam Jalal; Respect and loyalty:

One of Salih Muslim's outstanding characteristics was his deep belief in national unity. He had a very close spiritual and political relationship with President Mam Jalal. In 2010, when he was under pressure from the Syrian regime, he was sheltered and protected in the Kurdistan Region by the Kurdistan National Union.

Muslim always saw Mam Jalal as the umbrella that united the Kurds. “We need Mam Jalal more than ever,” he said in one of his famous speeches in Sulaymaniyah, expressing his concern for the unity between the parts of Kurdistan.
