Iranian opposition sources report that Brig. Gen. Ebrahim Mortazavinasab, commander of the Basij “Sarollah” resistance unit in Shiraz, was killed in a strike earlier today.

Mortazavinasab was reportedly involved in overseeing the crackdown on protesters in Shiraz during the January unrest, where large numbers of demonstrators were killed or arrested.

The report has not yet been independently confirmed by Iranian authorities.
