George W. Bush called the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan wrong
Former US President George W. Bush, who invaded Afghanistan in 2001 and overthrew the Taliban government, told Deutsche Welle that the withdrawal of US and NATO troops from Afghanistan was a mistake.
"The withdrawal of coalition forces from Afghanistan will put civilians at risk of being killed by the Taliban," Bush said.
According to George W. Bush, Afghan women and girls will suffer indescribably. He also says that German Chancellor Angela Merkel agrees with him on these issues.
The United Nations has said Afghanistan is on the brink of a humanitarian crisis.
Statistics from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) show that 270,000 people have been displaced from their homes since June as a result of the violence in Afghanistan.
Referring to the escalation of fighting in Afghanistan and the displacement of people, the organization emphasizes that it is still possible to prevent a crisis in Afghanistan.
