Deportation of Trita Parsi from the US and Proposal by a Group of Human Rights Activists: Deportation Instead of Execution, Based on International Law
Full Statement:

The United States government under President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio has launched an official investigation into revoking the green card and deporting Trita Parsi (founder of NIAC and executive vice president of the Quincy Institute). This news was reported on June 11, 2026, by The Free Press and widely covered by outlets such as Iran International.1
As a group of human rights defenders, anti-war activists, and supporters of the Rule of Law and transparency, we welcome this action.
For years, Trita Parsi and the NIAC network have opposed designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and have promoted policies aligned with the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The IRGC is responsible for the widespread suppression of the Iranian people and support for groups such as Hamas (responsible for crimes against civilians). This type of lobbying, under the guise of “peace advocacy,” has contributed to continued domestic repression and regional instability.
Freedom of expression is a fundamental right, but systematic support for terrorist entities should not be protected by permanent residency in democracies.
*Proposal by a Group of Human Rights Activists*
While the US is investigating and considering the deportation of individuals accused of lobbying for the Iranian regime, on June 10, 2026 (20 Khordad 1405), Sadegh Zibakalam, university professor and political analyst, was arrested on charges that the regime describes as lobbying for Israel or violating judicial restrictions on media activities.

Our collective proposal as a group of human rights activists: Instead of execution, long prison sentences, or suppression of those accused of supporting Israel, the United States, or criticizing the regime’s policies, they should be deported from the country. This is exactly the same approach the United States is now considering with Trita Parsi.
This reciprocity approach is grounded in the principles of international law:
* The US should deport lobbyists for the Iranian regime.
* The Islamic Republic should allow those accused of lobbying for Israel or supporting foreign attacks to leave the country freely, instead of executing or imprisoning them.
This proposal does not endanger the lives of prisoners; on the contrary, it offers a humane solution that reduces tension and aligns with international standards. Individuals with differing views should not face death or imprisonment — they should have the option to leave the country. This could be a practical step toward breaking the cycle of war, repression, and human suffering for the people of Iran.
Reference to International Laws and Resolutions
This proposal is fully consistent with international instruments. In its annual report (late May 2026), the United Nations added Israeli forces to its blacklist for conflict-related sexual violence for the first time (alongside Russia), while Hamas had already been listed.21 The International Criminal Court (ICC) continues its investigations into potential war crimes by all parties, including Hamas’s war crimes and Israeli actions. The international community must hold both sides accountable and reject double standards. Deportation instead of execution is compatible with the protection of civilians, the Geneva Conventions, and rights to freedom of expression and movement.
Practical Recommendations:
1. Full Transparency in the US investigation: Public release of relevant documents for public awareness.
2. Expand the Review to other networks of Iranian regime influence in the US, Europe, and Switzerland.
3. Deportation Instead of Execution in Iran: Implement genuine reciprocity to protect citizens’ lives and reduce tensions.
4. Support Real Voices: Strengthen direct engagement with democratic opposition, Woman-Life-Freedom activists, and independent media.
5. International Cooperation: Coordinate with Europe and Switzerland to prevent the relocation of influence networks and promote rule-of-law-based peace.
The people of Iran have paid a heavy price for over four decades due to the regime’s policies and international reactions. It is time to pursue humane, non-violent solutions based on Rule of Law instead of violence and double standards.
