#Sepideh_Qolyan: Detainees in Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz Face Deprivation of Basic Rights

Sepideh Qolyan, a civil activist, published a post on the social network X, reporting what she described as “the intensification of pressure on detainees in Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz” since January 2025.

According to her, the detainees have been held in the prison’s prayer room during this period and have been deprived of the right to visit, air, cooling and heating equipment, and proper access to the bathroom. She also claimed that reports received indicate the presence of severe injuries on the bodies of some detainees, and that the manner in which some of them were transferred to prison was also outside the usual procedure.

Qolyan also wrote that due to the lack of a correctional center for girls under 18 in Ahvaz, children are kept alongside adults. She also reported a shortage of drinking water and proper food for prisoners.

According to the activist, the new detainees are being held in similar conditions, with political prisoners being held in a space lacking natural light, with limited access to drinking water, toilets and showers. He described the situation as an example of “systematic control, persecution and torture.”
