YPG: Invasion forces accelerated their contra actions in Afrin
YPG stated that the occupation forces smear their forces in order to abuse the people’s trust in the YPG and to legitimate their presence and occupation in Afrin.

People’s Defense Units (YPG) Press Office released a statement warning that Turkish troops and jihadists wearing YPG forces’ military uniform are patrolling in Afrin and abusing people, violating their rights and looting their property in the name of YPG.

The statement by YPG Press Office said the following;

“The occupying Turkish army and its jihadist allies have started to smear our forces in order to abuse our people’s trust in us and to legitimate its presence and occupation in Afrin.

Continuing its illegitimate occupation in Afrin, Turkish army and its mercenaries try to make the people of Afrin accept the invasion by any means possible. Turkish army, which started to attack peaceful civilians of Afrin over the excuse of “the local people is being oppressed by YPG”, have committed countless war crimes and human rights violations by taking advantage of the silence of the global community.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced, jihadi armed groups from all over Syria have been settled in the city with their families, Afrin has been turned into a jihadist heaven in Syria. The kidnapping and killing of civilians are continuing on a daily basis, in addition to the infighting between the groups. In spite of the forced immigration, ethnic cleansing, looting, theft and mass killings, people of Afrin have never given up the resistance against the Turkish occupation forces and their jihadist allies.

As a latest attempt to legitimate the occupation, Turkish army and its jihadists started to smear the gains of the people in Rojava Kurdistan. Turkish troops and jihadists wearing our forces’ military uniform are patrolling in Afrin and abusing people, violating their rights and looting their property in the name of YPG. We urge our people in Afrin and other parts of Rojava/northern Syria to be aware of such attempts of Turkish army. We believe that our people will not be deceived with such smearing campaigns. We reiterate that we will not stay silent against this dirty attempt by invaders.”

YPG Called on people of Afrin to beware of Turkish occupation tricks
The General Command of the People's Protection Units (YPG) explained that the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries gangs are pursuing the Kontra methods in Afrin in order to deceive the Afrin people and to distort the image of the protection units.

The General Command of the People's Protection Units issued a written statement on its official page calling on the people of Afrin and the public opinion to beware of the tricks and plots of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries.

The text of the statement:

"The Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries gangs follow the Kontra methods in Afrin with the aim of deceiving the people of Afrin and trying to distort the image of our forces, and in this way the Turkish occupation army seeks to legitimize its illegal occupation of Afrin.

In addition to the violations committed by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries gangs against the people of Afrin, they impose pressure on the people of Afrin to accept their occupation of the area. The Turkish occupation army, which began the attacks by fabricating lies that "the people of the region are suffering from pressure and injustice" benefited from international silence and committed crimes against humanity. Hundreds of thousands people have been displaced from their homes and thousands of armed gangs and their families from various parts of the country have been resettled in Afrin. Afrin has become a hotbed for dozens of armed jihadist groups. In these situations, the region is witnessing daily cases of fighting between gangs and these cases are increasing day by day. Despite the violations committed by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries of the killing, displacement, abduction, genocide, looting and massacres, the people of Afrin and its villages are still committed to their resistance, rejecting this illegal occupation.

As a last resort, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries gangs are distorting the gains of the people in Rojava in front of world public opinion. The occupation soldiers in Afrin are wearing the uniforms of YPG fighters, putting pressure on the people, plundering and stealing their property and pursuing the Kontra methods.

Therefore, we appeal to our people in Afrin and the public opinion to be careful against these tricks and conspiracies.

We are confident that our people in Rojava and all areas of northern Syria will be cautious about the tricks of the occupier. We declare that these dirty attempts will not be left without a response. "
