Afrin is no more a land of peace and tranquility”
An Afrin resident who moved to Shehba to rescue himself from the atrocity of the occupant Turkish army and allied mercenaries, stated that Afrin is no more a land of peace and tranquility.

People of Afrin who did not leave their homes and lands despite the invasion of the Turkish army and allied mercenaries, are now trying to rescue themselves from the atrocity of the invaders.

One of such citizens if A.Y., who had to leave Afrin and settle in Shehba because of repression. He told about what the invaders are doing to the civilians in the city.

A.Y. remarked that the gangs try to deceive the people with discourses of “peace and freedom” in an effort to influence the public opinion.

A.Y. told that however, the gangs displace the local people from their lands and constantly committing atrocities like abduction, torture, murder, looting and burning down houses and fields of the people, which reveals their true face.

According to A.Y., the situation in Afrin is worsening day by day. He says the invaders are kidnapping more civilians on the basis of groundless allegations, especially after the June 24 elections in Turkey.

A.Y. told that the gang groups are kidnapping people, releasing them in return for ransom, and then arrest them again telling various lies.

A.Y. also stated that the gangs are burning down woodlands on the grounds of presence of YPG/YPJ fighters.

Describing the situation in Afrin as an inhumane and intolerable state, A.Y. said; “We are living like strangers in our own land. Afrin is no more a land of peace and tranquility. The people who remained there are all depressed. Everyone is waiting for the YPG/YPJ to free Afrin from the occupant Turkish army and their gangs.”
