#Ebba_Busch: Open Swedish embassy in Jerusalem
I like her political ideas
Last week, the government stated that they want to put more pressure on Israel by getting the EU to freeze the trade agreement with the country. Now, KD leader Ebba Busch comments in a post on social media that Hamas should also be pressured to reach a peace agreement. One of several proposals that Busch has listed is to move Sweden's embassy to Jerusalem and recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
"It is unequivocal that Hamas bears great responsibility for the war and the human suffering in Gaza. Israel bears a responsibility to do more to ensure that emergency aid reaches civilians," the KD leader writes in the post.
Israel has considered Jerusalem its capital since the declaration of independence in 1948, but it is not recognized by large parts of the world. US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel during his first term.

Busch (KD) opens up to reconsidering the government’s line towards Israel

Following the announcement that the government wants to freeze the EU’s trade agreement with Israel, Ebba Busch (KD) is now opening up to the possibility of changing the line regarding the trade agreement.
– The pressure must be on Hamas. They are the ones who have the opportunity to end this terrible humanitarian disaster if they want to, says Ebba Busch at a press conference.
The government has said that it could consider reviewing the EU’s trade agreement with Israel in order to put economic pressure on the country and bring in more emergency aid to Gaza.
Ebba Busch (KD) says that she supports the government’s line but is open to the possibility of changing it:
– We are prepared and open to the rather far-reaching measure of reviewing the trade agreement with Israel, if it is the case that Israel does not show that it is doing everything within reason to release humanitarian aid.
She believes that the pressure must be on Hamas:
– Hamas is the root of the evil here and Israel is doing the world a favor by trying to neutralize Hamas.
Simona Mohamsson (L) says that Israel must be pressured further and that Hamas must release the hostages:
– It is important that we in the government have efforts to put pressure, in order to be able to achieve a long-term peace in the region.
Move embassy to Jerusalem
On Tuesday, Busch also published a post on social media with a number of measures that KD proposes to increase the pressure on Hamas. Among other things, move the Swedish embassy to Jerusalem:
“Highlight that Hamas is not winning any victories through its terror by moving the Swedish embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” the post says.
She also writes that Sweden should not sign statements in the EU or the UN that do not point to Hamas as responsible for the war. It It is also suggested that the EU should support the Arab countries' stances against Hamas and demands for disarmament.
Busch: "Shares the criticism"
After the announcement about the trade agreement, the SD criticized the government and said that it does not rule out making stricter demands in future negotiations with the Tidö parties. Busch says that she shares the criticism and that the image that was portrayed of the government's line was not fair.
Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) writes in a comment to SVT that the KD continues to support the government's line.
"Sweden demands that Hamas immediately and unconditionally release the hostages that were taken when Hamas attacked.
Israel has the right to defend itself - and the defense must be exercised in accordance with international law, including international humanitarian law".
She also writes that the government is following the situation in the Middle East and is continuously evaluating what measures should be taken from the Swedish and European sides.
