Bayan Salehiyan , Physician and Gender Equality Activist, Detained Again

Bayan Salehiyan—an internal medicine specialist and gender equality activist originally from Saqqez and residing in Urmia—has been detained once more.

 

According to published reports, Salehiyan has faced repeated arrests and legal proceedings over the past few years. Her initial arrest occurred in the autumn of 2022, coinciding with the "Woman, Life, Freedom" uprising; she was detained in Saqqez alongside two other physicians and subsequently released on bail. She was later sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Saqqez to eight months of imprisonment on charges of "propaganda against the system via the publication of content online," a sentence that was later commuted to a monetary fine.
In October 2024, Salehiyan was detained again in Urmia. Although she was released after several hours of interrogation, her mobile phone was confiscated. She was subsequently sentenced in separate cases to a monetary fine and a five-month prison term. The sentence—comprising five months in prison and a fine for the charge of "disseminating falsehoods online with the intent to disturb public opinion"—was upheld on appeal.
Her most recent arrest took place on September 26, 2026, at her home in Urmia. Security forces searched her residence and seized her mobile phone and laptop. According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, following her arrest, she was transferred to the quarantine section of the women's ward at Urmia Central Prison; as of the time of this report, she has been denied access to a lawyer or family visits. No official information regarding the charges in her new case has been released so far. Alongside her medical practice, Bayan Salehian is known as an activist for women's rights, gender equality, and anarcho-feminism; her civil activities over the years have repeatedly resulted in security crackdowns and the filing of legal cases against her.

بە پێی ڕاپۆرتە بڵاوکراوەکان، بەیان ساڵحیان لە ماوەی ساڵانی ڕابردوودا چەندین جار دەستبەسەر کراوە و ڕووبەڕووی دۆسیەی یاسایی بووەتەوە. یەکەم دەستگیرکردنی لە پاییزی ساڵی ١٤٠١دا ڕوویدا، لە هەمان کاتدا لەگەڵ ڕاپەڕینی “ژن، ژیان، ئازادی”؛ کاتێک لە سەقز لەگەڵ دوو پزیشکی دیکە دەستبەسەر و دوای ماوەیەک بە دانانی بارمتە ئازاد کرا. پاشان لەلایەن دادگای ئینقلابی سەقزەوە بە تۆمەتی "پڕوپاگەندە دژی نیزام لە ڕێگەی بڵاوکردنەوەی ناوەڕۆک لە فەزای ئەلیکترۆنیدا" بە هەشت مانگ زیندانی سزادرا، کە دواتر گۆڕدرا بۆ غەرامە.
لە مانگی خەزەڵوەری ساڵی ١٤٠٣ ساڵحیان جارێکی دیکە لە ورمێ دەستبەسەر کرا. ئەم دەستگیرکردنە بە ئازادکردنی دوای چەند کاتژمێرێک لە لێپرسینەوە کۆتایی هات، بەڵام دەستی بەسەر مۆبایلەکەیدا گیرا. دواتر لە دۆسیەی جیاوازدا سزای غەرامە و پێنج مانگ زیندانی بەسەردا سەپێندرا. هەروەها سزای پێنج مانگ زیندانی و غەرامە بە تۆمەتی "بڵاوکردنەوەی درۆ بە مەبەستی تێکدانی بیروڕای گشتی لە فەزای ئەلیکترۆنیدا" لە تانەدان پشتڕاستکرایەوە.
دوایین دەستبەسەرکردنی لە ٢٦ی خەزەڵوەری ٢٠٢١ لە ماڵەکەی خۆی لە ورمێ بووە. هێزە ئەمنییەکان ماڵەکەیان پشکنیوە و دەستیان بەسەر مۆبایل و لاپتۆپەکەیدا گرتووە. بەپێی ڕاپۆرتی تۆڕی مافی مرۆڤی کوردستان، دوای دەستبەسەرکردنی، بۆ بەشی کەرەنتینەی ژنانی بەندیخانەی ناوەندیی ورمێ گواسترایەوە و تا بڵاوبوونەوەی ئەم ڕاپۆرتە، چاوی بە پارێزەر و سەردانی لەگەڵ بنەماڵەکەی بێبەش کراوە. تا ئێستا زانیاری فەرمی سەبارەت بە تۆمەتەکانی دۆسیە نوێیەکەی بڵاونەکراوەتەوە.
بەیان ساڵحیان جگە لە چالاکییە پزیشکییەکانی، وەک چالاکوانێک لە بوارەکانی ژنان، یەکسانی جێندەری و ئەنارکۆ-فێمینیزمدا ناسراوە و چالاکییە مەدەنییەکانی لە چەند ساڵی ڕابردوودا چەندین جار لەگەڵ پێکدادانی ئەمنی و تۆمارکردنی دۆسیەی یاساییدا بووە.
