Iran: Kurdish Man's Execution Might be Implemented Soon as Parents Allowed to See Him

Iranian authorities have let the parents of Ramin Hussein Panahi, a Kurdish prisoner who is on the death row in Iran for alleged membership in a Kurdish opposition party, to see their son, and activists say it might be a sign of a "sudden implementation" of the death penalty at any time, said his lawyer.

Panahi's lawyer, Hussein Ahmedi Niyaz, told Kurdistan 24 that at least sixty lawyers have written a letter to the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to cancel the execution of the Kurdish man.

The actvist's case has been discussed internationally and several worldwide organizations have called on the Islamic Republic to stop the punishment, but Tehran has so far stayed insisted on implementing it.
