#Iranian_people_have_to_have_global_internet
Access to the global Internet is the right of every human being. Taking this right away from humans is a crime against humanity.
Today, 28 April, marks two months that 90+ million people in Iran remain cut off from the internet amid an internet shutdown imposed by the authorities since 28 February. Amnesty International has published a report on individuals involved in the Internet blackout that deprived Iranians of access to a global internet network, and has called for international courts to prosecute these individuals.
The shutdown has intensified the risk of atrocity crimes against the population. It is affecting the livelihoods of millions of people, causing economic hardship and further eroding socio-economic rights. The internet blackout is also preventing the stem of information about violations of international law in Iran.
Meanwhile, various officials from the Islamic Republic keep using the internet freely, even shamelessly regularly posting on social media.
Access to the internet is a human right.
The Iranian authorities must immediately restore access.
