Baghdad is unsafe for Iraqi women. Women in Kurdish society. Women in Arabized Shiite society.

An Iraqi girl from Baghdad says, regarding harassment, "The police and the government tell us to drop the charges."

This is the situation in Baghdad and its southern regions. The control of militias and armed groups has rendered the police ineffective, and harassment is a daily occurrence.Federal police officers, not from the area, attempted to harass women inside a currency exchange in Hawija, Kirkuk Governorate. Despite evidence, the harassers were smuggled out of their military units and transferred without being handed over to the judiciary.

This video, from previous years, proves that harassment is fundamentally a phenomenon practiced by security forces.
