Photographer and civil activist Negin Kiani was sentenced to one year in prison by the First Branch of the Babol Revolutionary Court on charges of propaganda against the regime.

 Photographer and civil activist Negin Kiani was sentenced to one year in prison by the First Branch of the Babol Revolutionary Court on charges of propaganda against the regime. 

 

Born in 1989, Negin Kiani is a social documentary photographer and photography instructor who has worked and taught in the field of social documentation for many years. The 37-year-old photographer has previously been summoned several times and faced legal action due to her civil activities. Negin Kiani was arrested by security forces on April 9 this year at her father's house in Babol and released on bail a day later. Her case hearing was held on Monday, June 15 at the First Branch of the Babol Revolutionary Court, and the court ultimately sentenced her to one year in prison.
