On October 2, while en route to her parents' home, Samieh called her sister to say she would arrive in ten minutes. Shortly thereafter, her phone went dead, and she never reached her destination. Her family immediately raised the alarm. Not long after, Samieh’s car was found burned near the location where she had made her final phone call; however, there was no sign of Samieh herself until October 27. On that date, a man—identified by local news outlets as a "distant relative"—confessed to the murder and revealed the location where he had hidden her remains. It is reported that Samieh was owed money by this man, and she was killed after demanding the repayment of that sum. #Femicide
