Bursa's Court of Cassation decided to deprive the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan and the remaining political prisoners in Imrali prison of visiting, correspondence, telephone conversations rights and meeting lawyers, Ocalan's lawyers, in turn, checked up the court to challenge the decision.
According to a report published by the Mesopotamia agency, the petition submitted by lawyers confirms that denying detainees the right to respect private and family life, the right to a fair trial, as well as torture and ill-treatment is a violation of the Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights.
The content of the petition also stated that the right to meet lawyers was violated contrary to the law, and illegal arguments were presented to implement this decision.
The lawyers called to abide by the decisions of the European Human Rights Court and the standards of the European Committee against torture and the reports on Turkey.
"For all these reasons, prison conditions and aggravated isolation must be considered a violation of laws prohibiting torture and ill-treatment.
