The monarchist movement, which presents itself as the opposition to the Islamic Republic, in practice reproduces the same logic of power projection and overseas presence that the Quds Force implemented under the command of Qassem Soleimani. 

 

Threats and pressure against critics, aggressive treatment of opponents, and a network of former advisors and media figures of the regime show that the differences with the Islamic Republic are more superficial and nominal than substantive.
The social divide in this movement is obvious from the very beginning. The different nationalities of Iran—Kurds, Turks, Baluchis, Arabs, and other groups—with their historical experience of centralization, repression, and elimination of local identities show no convergence with the monarchists. Contrary to the promises of freedom and democracy, the monarchists pursue the same policy of labeling and threatening the opposition and destroying public trust!Reza Pahlavi suddenly appeared from the shadows and managed to single-handedly crush the opposition of the Islamic Republic.
