Security Council to begin consideration of resolution against Iran over Strait of Hormuz
A draft resolution proposed by the United States and coordinated by France and Britain threatens Iran with sanctions if it continues to block the Strait of Hormuz.
UN Security Council members will begin discussions on Tuesday on a draft resolution sponsored by the United States and Bahrain that could lead to sanctions against Iran, Reuters reported, citing three Western diplomats.
The draft resolution states that the Security Council may authorize the use of force if Iran continues its attacks and threats against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
